There’s no better place to explain NaNoWriMo than NaNoWriMo.org.
Basically, by signing up, you’re in for a ride that will challenge you, test your limits, and you’ll work hard till you drop. Not literally speaking. But I can say it will test how far you want to write. It forces you somewhat of a messy first draft of your own story. Sign ups start in October, however the one-month period between October and November is crucial. Through that time, you are able to plan your plot, your characters, and your story. During the month of November, you write your story, and try to get the goal – 50,000 words.
Why would you want to go through writing 50,000 words in one month? Because its challenging. Because it will put you through some rough times. Because it will help you be a better writer whether you like it or not.
..because it will give me something to do
